A Visit in Barcelona Spain

I have wanted to visit Barcelona, Spain for the longest time. The first time I had heard of this country was when Olympics was held in the city of Barcelona when I was a child. Since then, I've been wondering when and what I should do when I visit this place. That dream became a reality a few months ago. Together with my travel buddy, we set foot for the first time in the city of Barcelona, the Spain's second largest city.

Barcelona has an excellent climate ideal for tourists. This place offers a lot of things to everybody - enjoyable nightlife, arts and architecture, exquisite food, and even the cosmopolitan experience that I am accustomed to.

There are four main districts that comprise Barcelona - El Barri Gotic or the gothic quarter, El Raval or the outskirts southwest of the Rambla, La Ribera or the waterfront area and Ciutat Vella or the Old City.

We started our day trip with walking through La Rambla and stopping at the Boqueria Market. Then we're off to see the Catedral de la Seau located in the Gothic Quarter. We also made our way to visit the unfinished architectural master piece of Antoni Gaudi known as the Sagrada Familia. This is a unique structure because its tower resembles a castle made of sand that has been smoothed over by a wave.

Then after, we went to Parc Guell, a park designed by Gaudi. It gives us a marvelous view of downtown Barcelona. This park will make you experience Alice in Wonderland on earth.

After a long day of traveling, it's time for us to try authentic Catalan food. The list could go on but I highly recommend trying habas a la catalana (a spicy bean stew) and and pinacas a la catalana (spinach with pine nuts, raisins and bacon). And of course don't forget to try Barcelona wines, because you'll enjoy its delectable taste. The white wine known as cava is a must try.

There are still a lot of things to do in Barcelona and in Spain. To finish off our trip (and because I am an avid flag collector) I made sure I bought Spanish Flags to add to my collection. That's how remarkable my visit was in Barcelona. I hope one day you'll experience the beauty of Barcelona too.
